Bangkok raised and San Francisco spoiled, PanPan Thiravechyan is a modern woman who can't live without traditional flavors. She dreamed up Basil the Bold in 2020 after leaving her “cushy” nine-to-five job as a business analyst, chasing a craving to combine uncompromisingly bold flavors with a boost of plants.
She spins her colorful and creative bowls out of a kitchen in the Dogpatch, serving convenient lunches to busy San Franciscans. The bowls are packed with rice, noodles, and veggies, with tender chicken or vegan options, and sometimes full slabs of tofu and fragrant curry sauces. Previously, she only served weekday lunch, but now through Pastel, that crispy, crunchy, spicy tofu is available every weekend.
Her food may not fit neatly into any category, but PanPan believes that good food is its own category. If her creations make you smile, then mission accomplished!
