Bake Sum

Crafting Heartfelt, Delectable Pastries Reflecting Tradition and Creativity.

Bake Sum was founded by Joyce in 2020, which unexpectedly coincided with the onset of the pandemic. Joyce and her team love all things leavened, fluffy, and delicious, they utilize their skills as pastry chefs to bring you memorable pastries.

"Pastries should be fun, beautiful, creative, and above all delicious", -That's their central philosophy. ​

The word "Sum" or 心 has many meanings and when translated directly into Cantonese Chinese it means heart. Sum also represents the addition of two or more things, people and/or ingredients. Bake Sum shares with you a little piece of their hearts in each pastry.

Black Sesame Babka
The black sesame babka is a decadent, not-too-sweet Bake Sum version of a Jewish holiday favorite. It's made with our fluffy milk bread as a base and then layered in with a housemade toasted black sesame spread. It's delicious straight out of the container in pieces and can also be made into french toast or whatever your heart desires. It's one of our most popular new treats and we are so excited to keep it on the menu through the Lunar New Year (& hopefully beyond!) and share it with you.

Ispahan Cake
Three layers of delicious chiffon soaked in lychee juice and rose water, sandwiched with a lychee flavored whipped cream, raspberry jam and topped with dehydrated rose petals.
